Analysts: Sales of Electric Motor Bicycle Can up to Nine Million in 10 Years
The next two or three years, tens of thousands of electric motor bicycle will appear in the streets of Europe, the highway and roads of United States and Asia. Analysts estimate that sales of electric motor bicycle could reach 2 million within 10 years, or even 9 million.
Automotive consulting firm JD Power Automotive forecasting that, sales of electric motor bike will reach 2 million in 2020, HSBC will have a more optimistic estimate of 9 million. While this figure is small compared to gasoline and diesel vehicles with 61 million global sales last year, but compared to the sale of electric motor bicycle 5000 last year, it has improved a lot.
The critical issues electric motor bicycle facing is the lacking of adequate charging stations. Some experts believe that electric motor bike should be charged at home or company, some one support for the establishment of a global network of roadside charging stations, others also suggested to focus on developing the vehicles with electricity and gasoline.
The stakes of competition with electric motor bicycle are enormous. HSBC boldly predicted this week that by 2020, the market of electric motor bicycle will grow 20 times, and the value of electric motor bike can reach 473 billion U.S. dollars (about 634.1 billion dollars), accounting for all low-carbon economy one-fifth of the industry.
